SUB to SRT Converter
Two text formats, and the picture format this page skips
MicroDVD stores {start}{end}text in frames. The first line has to be the
frame rate, written like a cue whose two numbers match and whose text is the rate, for example
{1}{1}23.976. A | in the text becomes a line break.
SubViewer text already has clocks, 00:00:01.00,00:00:04.00, and the caption on the
following lines. [br] becomes a line break. Those clocks are copied. They are not
estimated.
A .idx file that says VobSub, or a timestamp line with filepos,
is an index of pictures. This page stops there. It does not OCR them.

Frame rate, line breaks, and why an IDX file stops.
Why does a MicroDVD file ask for a frame rate?
Those cues are frame numbers, not clocks. Put a line such as {1}{1}23.976 or {1}{1}25.000 first. This page will not guess 23.976 or 25 for you.
What does the vertical bar mean?
In MicroDVD, a | inside the cue is a line break. It becomes a new line in the SRT, not a character you have to delete.
Can this read a .sub plus .idx pair?
No. A VobSub index points at pictures. This page does not OCR those pictures. It only reads MicroDVD and SubViewer text.
