What changes between ASS and SubRip
ASS and SSA store a Dialogue line with a start, an end, a style, and an actor name.
SubRip stores a number, 00:00:01,200 --> 00:00:04,000, and the text. This page reads
Dialogue events and writes that SubRip shape. The other direction wraps each SubRip cue in a Default
style and writes \N where the cue had a line break.
{\i1}, karaoke {\k}, and position tags are removed, not rendered.
A drawing block is skipped. Comment, Picture, Sound, and Movie lines are skipped. The actor name,
when it is not empty, is written as Name: at the start of the SRT cue.
A Word document from the same script is ASS to Word.
WebVTT is VTT to SRT.

Does this page go both ways?
Yes. A file with Dialogue events becomes SRT. A SubRip file with --> cues becomes a plain ASS script. Paste either one into the same box.
Do karaoke and position tags survive?
No. Override tags, including karaoke and \pos, are removed. The words stay in one cue for that Dialogue line. Drawings are skipped.
Is an ASS file the same as a Word document?
No. This page writes a caption file. ASS to Word is the page that writes a .docx.
